Use a concrete verb
Choose, combine, personalize or collect describes a guest action more clearly than a broad ambition such as “engage.” Write the action in plain language, then test whether a first-time visitor could understand it from the sample and invitation.
Connect the object to the idea
The product, artwork and choice menu should support the campaign. Explain why that particular object belongs in the experience and how the guest’s decision changes it. A strong brief gives the production team a purpose to work toward without assuming an untested technique.
Define the edges of the experience
Identify who owns the brand conversation, any data collection and the production handoff. Agree on what is in scope and what sits with the agency, organizer or venue. This makes the activation easier to coordinate as a complete encounter.
Illustrative planning scenario
Example: a launch becomes a choice of campaign artwork
Instead of offering an unrelated giveaway, the activation invites guests to select one of several approved graphics that express the launch idea. The creative task is to make that choice meaningful and understandable, then fit it to an appropriate product and production workflow.
A working decision sheet
A useful participation brief is concrete without pretending the production method is already approved. Explain the guest action, the campaign connection and the desired finished object. Then identify where the agency, event host and production team meet. The station should not inherit unspoken responsibilities for strategy, data collection, scenic production or venue management.
| Decision | Record or review | Planning note / owner |
|---|---|---|
| Action | What the guest actually does | Use a concrete verb. |
| Meaning | How that action relates to the campaign | Give the choice a purpose. |
| Object | What the participant receives | Review product and decoration together. |
| Ownership | Who runs each part of the encounter | Make agency and production roles explicit. |
Put it into your brief
- What is the guest action in one sentence?
- Why does the chosen object belong in this campaign?
- Who owns the invitation, conversation, production and pickup?
Use these questions to record the decisions you already know and identify what needs review. Keep the brief with the current product specifications and event documents.
